OUR STOREY

At FORhoraM, architecture is more than just creating buildings—it’s about building lives, hopes, and communities. Our journey began with a simple but profound belief: everyone deserves a place to call home.

Our founder, Pailin Horam, grew up in a third-world country, where shelter was often uncertain. Moving from home to home, sleeping on hard floors, weathering the rain through poorly constructed roofs, and enduring bug bites at night due to incomplete walls left a lasting impression on her. These challenges instilled a deep understanding of how critical safe and dignified housing is to every human being.

Before founding FORhoraM, Pailin spent 8 years gaining invaluable experience working with leading architectural and design firms, including Elenberg Fraser, Carter Grange, and others. During this time, she honed her skills in managing complex projects, collaborating with clients and builders, and developing innovative design solutions. This experience laid the groundwork for her decision to start her own firm, driven by a passion for accessible, meaningful architecture.

This personal experience and professional background became the foundation of FORhoraM's mission: to ensure that architecture is accessible to all, regardless of their circumstances. We are committed to designing spaces that not only provide protection but also foster resilience and dignity.

Today, FORhoraM combines innovative design with a compassionate approach. From creating beautiful homes for families to partnering with organizations like Backpack Bed for Homeless, we aim to bridge the gap between architecture and humanity. For every project we complete, we donate a temporary shelter to someone in need—because we believe no one should have to sleep without a roof over their head.

FORhoraM isn’t just a business; it’s a movement to redefine what architecture can be. Join us as we design, recover, and rescue—one project at a time.

2018-2020

The University of Melbourne

The University of Melbourne is one of Australia’s most prestigious institutions, renowned for its cutting-edge research and innovative teaching. My Master of Architecture program equipped me with advanced design and architectural theory, practical skills, and the ability to approach complex design challenges. This program provided me with a solid foundation in sustainable design, urban planning, and project management, all of which continue to influence my work as I move towards becoming a fully registered architect.

2010-2013

Holmesglen Institute of Tafe

My Advanced Diploma of Building Design from Holmesglen Institute of TAFE provided me with a comprehensive understanding of building design principles and the technical skills required for creating residential and commercial buildings. This course focused on drafting, building regulations, and the practical aspects of construction, forming the early stages of my expertise in architectural design and laying the foundation for my professional growth.

2015-2018

Deakin University

Deakin University’s Bachelor of Design (Architecture) program laid the groundwork for my architectural journey. This degree emphasized creative design, technical proficiency, and a deep understanding of the architectural profession. Through hands-on learning and rigorous coursework, I gained the skills to conceptualize, develop, and execute architectural designs. It was at Deakin where I discovered my passion for creating functional and meaningful spaces.
